Two Must-Haves in Logo Design

Uber important to a company’s brand recognition is their logo.  Numerous websites are published as guides to building logos and creating brands visually.  Most of these sites cover similar topics, and when sorting through them all I found two of their points to be VERY important in logo creation.

Just as a quick definition/guide I went to Wikipedia.  A logo is “a graphic mark or emblem commonly used by commercial enterprises, organizations and even individuals to aid and promote instant public recognition.”  WIKI

Here are the two most important logo rules, in my opinion.

#1 – Is the logo appropriate to your business?

No one logo has done this better (in my opinion) than Toys-R-Us.  Visually, their logo is as fun as the products they sell.  The colors and the playful nature of the font are perfect brand representation in a logo.

#2 – Is the logo timeless?

This one I personally feel is the most important when creating any brand.  Think long term, not 10 years or 20 years, but long, LONG term.  The best example of this one is Coca-Cola.  Even their best competition hasn’t held a timeless logo like Coca-Cola. Check out the below infographic:
