History of Vision Graphics

From modest beginnings in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Vision Graphics has grown over the past 50 years to become one of the largest commercial printing companies in Colorado.

In 1952, Francis Brooks owned and operated a successful employment agency on the third floor of the Majestic Building in downtown Cheyenne, Wyoming. He bought a mimeograph machine to duplicate his office forms and soon found that businesses throughout the building were calling upon him to duplicate their forms.

Although the employment agency remained successful, Francis Brooks soon had more calls for copy work than for job inquiries. He sold the employment agency and opened a mimeograph and mailing service called Frontier Letter Shop. The new business was successful and continued to grow as the years went by. In 1962, Brooks incorporated and changed the company name to Frontier Printing, Inc.

In 1986, Mark Steputis, Francis Brooks’ nephew, was recruited from San Diego and eventually became Vice President of the company. Mark recognized the existence of a printing market in Denver and Northern Colorado which would eagerly support a printing company offering prompt, dependable delivery of quality products. In the early 1990s, Mark began focusing sales efforts in that region and soon developed a thriving business in Colorado.

In 1993, Francis Brooks retired and was succeeded as President of the company by Mark Steputis. Mark wanted to emphasize the company’s emerging commitment to technological developments in the printing industry, and in 1996, he changed the company name from Frontier Printing, Inc. to Vision Graphics, Inc. When Francis Brooks died in December 1996, ownership of the company passed to Mark Steputis.

In 1998, Vision Graphics was operating in downtown Cheyenne. However, business in Colorado had grown to the point that expansion was necessary. Recognizing that the future of the business was in Colorado, Mark contracted for the construction of a new 24,000 square ft. facility in the Fort Collins / Loveland Municipal Airport Industrial Park.

The Loveland facility, located off I-25 roughly halfway between Denver and Cheyenne, was ideally situated to serve the Cheyenne market and meet the needs of the increasingly attractive Colorado market, and it eventually became the focus of business operations. In 2001, Vision Graphics expanded again, adding an additional 24,000 square ft. of production space to the Loveland facility.

Eventually, the logistics of operating a business in two independent locations reached the point of diminishing returns. In December 2001, the Cheyenne plant was officially closed and its equipment, operations and personnel were transferred to the Loveland facility.

Today Vision Graphics services clients located throughout the United States and abroad. The company maintains its focus on producing and delivering quality products and providing outstanding customer service.
